Devil’s Den

A classic photo of Devil’s Den which, for some unknown reason, sprouted massive boulders in this area, and only in this area. Federals forces held these rocks on the morning of July 2nd, 1863, but by late afternoon they were driven back in the direction of the camera and retreated to Little Round Top. The Confederates then held the rocks and used them to pick off any careless Yankee showing his head on Little Round Top.
